Dear Guilderland Families-

The Guilderland Parks & Recreation Department is excited to offer exceptional programming that promotes fun, fitness and a wide variety of activities designed to enrich your child’s summer experience.  We thought it might be helpful to give you a brief summary of the activities we will be offering.  Check out our Fall camp offerings (Guilderland Youth Cross Country, QiGong Classes & Tai Chi and Yoga 4 Teens).  COMING SOON are details about Saturday Morning Basketball for Girls and Boys for grades 1-2 and 3-5. Please feel free to call the Parks and Recreations Department at (518) 456-3150, if you have any questions.

Summer of 2017

The Town runs a six-week, half-day adventure camp at Tawasentha Park each year for kids entering kindergarten through 8th grade. Each session runs for two weeks and you have the option to have your child take swim lessons as part of the camp at no additional charge. The Town provides busing within the Town of Guilderland for the six-week day camp (and for a.m. sports & enrichment camps) from June 26 - August 4, 2017.

NEW THIS YEAR - the buses will begin their pick-up routes at 8:00 am instead of 7:30 am (campers can be dropped off after 8:00am at the camp office). The reason for the time change is so that the buses can drop off the Tawasentha day campers and then take the sports and enrichment campers to the schools and sports fields in a timely manner. We hope this change will cut down on the wait time to get campers to their proper locations. For return routes, buses will drop off campers between 12:00-12:30 pm.

Besides the Tawasentha 1/2 Day Camp program, residents will have over 45 sports camps and 50 enrichment camps from which to choose. The pool at Tawasentha Park will once again offer the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program taught by certified lifeguards.

Registration for 2017 Summer Camps will begin on April 1, 2017. The 2017 Summer Brochures will be sent via backpack mail through the schools to Guilderland residents around the last week of March. Additional brochures can be picked up at Parks & Recreation, 181 Route 146 (across from Tawasentha Park), Town Hall and at your local libraries.  Registration Forms are available by clicking on Department Info.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL SPORTS AND ENRICHMENT CAMPS AND THE TAWASENTHA 1/2 DAY CAMP WILL BE CLOSED ON TUESDAY, JULY 4th, 2017.  The schools will be closed and buses will not be available.

Families can enjoy our pocket parks, GPAC concert series on Thursday nights, Friday night movies in the park, National Night Out (August 1, 2017), golf at Western Turnpike Golf Course and the use of over 5 miles of trails at Tawasentha Park, the Winter Recreation Area (adjacent to the park) and the Community Gardens. We hope you enjoy the summer of 2017!

If you have any questions or for more information, please call the Guilderland Parks & Recreation Department at (518) 456-3150. Thank you for your cooperation.
